A gentle introduction to grooming, one small step at a time.
Our four-visit puppy package introduces your newest family member to the sights, sounds and handling involved in grooming.
From their first meet-and-treat to their graduation groom, we take a patient, one-to-one approach, adapting each visit to their confidence, coat and comfort.
Based in Carnforth, we welcome puppies from Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham, Kirkby Lonsdale, Arnside, Silverdale and surrounding areas.
When should puppy grooming begin?
You don’t need to wait until your puppy needs a full haircut to start discussing grooming. Short introductory visits give us an opportunity to get acquainted and help you understand how to care for their coat at home.
Before booking, tell us your puppy’s age, breed and vaccination status. We’ll confirm our admission requirements and help you choose an appropriate starting point. If you are unsure when your puppy can safely visit a salon, ask your vet for advice.
Four visits to get them started
We usually recommend visits at two-to-three-week intervals, allowing your puppy to become familiar with the salon gradually.
The activities and timings below are guides. We adapt each session to your puppy and introduce new experiences at a pace they can manage.
Stage 1 — Enrolment
Around 20 minutes
A meet, greet and treat for you and your puppy.
We’ll introduce you to the salon, discuss your puppy’s coat and answer your questions about brushing, suitable tools and home care. This first visit is kept short and relaxed, giving your puppy time to explore without the demands of a full groom.
Stage 2 — Fresher’s Week
Around 30 minutes
Their first gentle grooming introduction.
Your puppy stays with us while we introduce bathing, drying and handling. Where appropriate and tolerated, we include a light tidy around the face and ears, plus nail trimming.
We make time for reassurance, treats and a little play along the way.
Stage 3 — First Semester
Around 60 minutes
Building familiarity with a longer appointment.
This visit includes a bath and dry, a light trim and nail care, with tidying around the face, ears, paw pads and hygiene areas where needed.
We continue to build on the previous visit, adjusting the groom and allowing breaks according to your puppy’s comfort.
Stage 4 — Graduation
Around 90 minutes
Their first full groom, tailored to their coat and readiness.
Graduation includes bathing, drying, clipping or styling as appropriate, nail trimming and tidying of the face, ears, paw pads and hygiene areas.
To mark the occasion, your puppy receives a digital portrait and their very own Diploma in Puppery. We’ll also discuss a suitable schedule for future grooms and how to maintain their coat between appointments.
