Welcome to Harvey’s Pet Grooming, located in the heart of Carnforth! My name is John, and I am the proud owner and head groomer. Although my journey into pet grooming didn’t start in the typical way, my love for animals led me here.
Before becoming a professional groomer, I worked as an accountant and analyst at Lloyds Bank in Chester for over two decades. While I appreciated the stability, I never found the passion I was seeking.
It wasn’t until I faced a serious illness during the pandemic that I decided to take the leap into grooming, encouraged by my wife, Michelle. I trained at the Canine Groom School in Gisburn, where I honed my skills in a beautiful countryside setting.
Today, I’m thrilled to bring my expertise and passion for pets to our community.
Harvey’s Pet Grooming is not just about giving your pet a great haircut; we focus on providing a stress-free, enjoyable experience for both pets and owners. We offer a range of services, including puppy grooming, cat grooming, teeth cleaning and even ultrasonic physiotherapy—services not always found at other salons.
Our goal is to help pets look and feel their best while ensuring they’re comfortable and happy throughout the grooming process. I’ve had the privilege of watching pets transform from scruffy to superstar, and the joy of seeing their owners’ smiles when they see their freshly groomed companions is the most rewarding part of the job.
As a Carnforth native, opening my salon in this town holds a special place in my heart. Harvey’s Pet Salon is named after my beloved golden cocker spaniel, Harvey, our beautiful golden Cocker Spaniel.
Over the years, we’ve had the honour of receiving awards and recognition, including being named Groomer of the Month by Total Grooming Magazine and winning an England Business Award for Best Pet Grooming Business in Lancashire.
We have been featured on BBC Radio Lancashire and even had our small business name flashed around the stadium's electronic LED advertising boards during a Premier League football match at Anfield for winning Small Business of the Match!
